Nars Sheer Glow Foundation Review!

So, for a while i had been pondering whether or not i should actually take the plunge and splurge on this foundation. There was a wide hype surrounding the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation across the blogger and youtube community, with it becoming a favourite of blogger/youtuber extraordinaire Zoe Sugg (aka Zoella) as well as the likes of Tanya Burr and such similar internet celebs.

And so i did it, i caved and bought the Nars Sheer Glow. I picked up the shade Gobi, this is the third lightest colour in the shade spectrum this foundation offers and is aimed towards fair skin with yellow undertones which, in store, matched my skin the best. I also bought the pump as well as the foundation, as me and pump less foundations do not mix well.

This foundation, despite its name, is neither sheer nor glowy on the skin. It is a medium coverage foundation, that is definitely build able and has a semi-matte finish. Despite being such a good coverage foundation it is very lightweight on the skin and doesn't feel heavy at all, it also doesn't appear cakey but still leaves you looking flawless. However, the foundation contains no spf, so ensure you're wearing some kind of sunscreen of product containing spf with the foundation!

The packaging of the foundation itself is very sleek, I love the glass bottle with the signature Nars logo/name. However, one fault with this product would be that if you decide to place a pump on the foundation, the lid no longer fits on. Other than this, I have nothing to complain about.

The foundation can be applied in various ways and each look equally as good. I have personally tried my beauty blender, my real techniques expert face brush and my blank canvas cosmetics F20 flat top kabuki brush. It's rare I find a foundation that I can apply in a number of ways and still adore the outcome.

So, once I fell in love with this foundation it became the basis of my everyday makeup routine and that is when I noticed it was far to yellow for my skin. I'm one of those people who has no idea what their undertone is and will test every shade of foundation for whatever undertone and just see which matches (oh dear).

After a week of enduring my Simpson skin, I popped on over to Depop and went on the hunt. (Depop is an app in which people list anything from makeup, to clothing, to custom false nails. It's a great way to get high end makeup at amazing prices!) After coming across the gorgeous Kirstie,(skintagainbeauty.blogspot.co.uk) (Depop; kittybaker) I noticed she had the Nars Sheer Glow in Siberia for sale! It was an absolute bargain as well, with the foundation still being well over half full! I jumped on the opportunity!

Siberia was definitely the better shade for my skin and I cannot for the life of me regret buying this foundation! Not even the fact I originally bought the wrong shade! I genuinely think this foundation is worth every penny. It looks pretty, both in the bottle and on the skin. It has a very wide  shade spectrum, consisting of 20 shades I believe, each with various undertones for different shades of skin. It doesn't break me out, and covers my acne scarring with ease. It's long wearing and doesn't slide off when my skin gets a little oily throughout the day.

Left - Gobi, Right - Siberia. Natural light.

If you're looking for a foundation and don't mind spending a little extra for one. I highly, highly recommend this one! Just remember to thank me afterwards 😊
